What heavy towing actually means
The vehicles a standard tilt tray operator has to decline: semi-trailers, B-doubles, rigids above 8 tonnes, coaches, plant and road trains.
24/7 dispatch · six depots across South East QLD · we quote before we roll
Heavy towing covers vehicles and equipment that standard car towing operators cannot legally or safely handle. If it weighs more than a conventional tilt tray can carry, it falls into our scope — semi-trailers, B-doubles, rigid trucks above 8 tonnes, coaches and city buses, construction plant, industrial machinery and road trains.
Delta Heavy Towing runs heavy tow trucks rated above 23 tonnes GVM out of six depots across South East Queensland. When you call, dispatch matches the job to the closest available truck and crew, and average response inside metro Brisbane sits around 45 minutes depending on traffic and access.
Our fleet includes boom trucks with underlift attachments, hydraulic rotators, heavy tilt trays rated to 25 tonnes, and low loaders for tracked and wheeled plant. Every truck carries recovery gear — airbags, snatch blocks, heavy chain and rated shackles — and our operators hold Heavy Rigid and Multi-Combination licences with current traffic control tickets for highway work.
What we handle
Four categories cover almost everything we get called for.
Engine failure, gearbox lockup, turbo failure, electrical faults. We disconnect drivelines where needed and transport to your preferred repairer or back to your depot.
Rollovers, collisions and jack-knifed trailers, working alongside Queensland Police, TMR incident response and insurers. Scene clearance on the M1, Gateway and Warrego is time-critical and we treat it that way.
Not every heavy tow is an emergency. Depot-to-depot moves, new equipment from dealerships, machinery between construction sites. Regular requirements can be set up as a standing arrangement with priority dispatch.
Off-road bogging, flood damage and embankment recovery. Our rotator can upright a rolled truck without a crane on site, and we carry our own traffic management for lane closures on state-controlled roads.
Heavy vehicles moved beyond South East Queensland by arrangement, quoted with fuel planning, rest stops and relay drivers included.
Account pricing and consolidated monthly invoicing for operators with recurring towing needs.
How it runs
Purpose-configured units rather than one truck asked to do everything.
Upright towing and short-distance recovery, with underlift attachments for semi-trailers, rigids and buses.
Rated to 25 tonnes for rigid trucks, buses and plant that needs to ride flat.
Tracked machinery like excavators and dozers, with a low deck that keeps transport height legal.
Uprighting, lifting and repositioning where a conventional tow simply cannot get purchase.
Operations can see real-time locations, which is how you get an accurate ETA instead of an average.
Strict service schedule, full insurance, TruckSafe accreditation and regular operator competency assessments.
One number, answered around the clock, with the right unit dispatched from the closest of six depots.
Detail that matters
Six depots, positioned so that most of metro Brisbane is inside a 45-minute reach.
Our depots sit at Rocklea, Burpengary, Virginia, Ipswich, the Gold Coast and Toowoomba. Beyond the metro area, that network covers the M1 corridor south to the Gold Coast and Ballina, the Warrego Highway west to Toowoomba, and the Bruce Highway north to the Sunshine Coast.
It also means the quote reflects a short dead-leg rather than a long one. A truck dispatched to Springfield from Ipswich costs less to send than the same truck sent from the northside, and that difference shows up in what you pay.
Straight answers
It varies with vehicle type and weight, distance from the nearest depot to you, distance to the destination, and time of day. We quote every job before dispatch so you have a firm number, and the invoice matches it.
Our fleet handles up to road train configurations. For an unusually heavy single unit we assess it first and select the equipment to match, rather than attempting it with whatever happens to be available.
Yes, by arrangement. Interstate work is quoted with fuel planning, rest stops and relay drivers factored in, and permits are coordinated across borders where the load requires them.
Your location as a pin or clear landmark, the vehicle make, model and configuration, approximate weight, what went wrong, and the destination. That is enough to assign the right unit and quote on the spot.
Fully — public liability and goods-in-transit. We are TruckSafe accredited and NHVR compliant, and certificates are available for your insurer or client on request.
