Oversize load specialists
Loads that exceed general access limits need more than a bigger truck. They need permits, escorts, a surveyed route and a crew that has done it before.

Over dimensional towing means moving a vehicle, machine or piece of equipment that sits outside the dimension or mass limits ordinary road transport is allowed to use. Once you cross that line, the job stops being a driving task and becomes a compliance task with a driving component.
That is where most oversize moves come unstuck. The load itself is rarely the hard part. Getting the right permit class, confirming the route still works, arranging pilots with compliant equipment and travelling inside the curfew windows — that is the work. Delta Heavy Towing does all of it as a single job.
We tow B-doubles, road trains and other heavy combinations, and we move mining plant, construction equipment, industrial components and heavy buses across Brisbane and regional Queensland. Every movement runs under NHVR requirements with the paperwork done before the wheels turn.
What we handle
If it will not travel under general access, it belongs on this list.
High, wide and long loads moved end to end — permits, escorts and delivery included — across Brisbane and regional Queensland.
Drill components, crushers, tanks, transformers and process equipment. Heavy, awkward, and usually with a centre of gravity that dictates the trailer choice.
Excavators, dozers, graders and cranes that exceed width or height limits once loaded, which is more of them than operators expect.
Prime movers, trailers and road trains towed with equipment rated for the job, for local moves and long-distance runs alike.
Building modules, tanks and structural sections where the shape, not the weight, is what triggers the permit.
When an over dimensional load breaks down it blocks more than one lane. We secure the site, arrange escorts if needed, and move it — at any hour.
How it runs
The order matters. Getting these out of sequence is what creates the delays people blame on the permit office.
Height, width, length and mass as loaded — not as the brochure describes the machine. A 100 mm error here changes the permit class and can invalidate the whole application.
Oversize is a dimension issue, overmass is a weight issue, and plenty of loads are both. The category determines which permit, which conditions and which escorts.
We apply through the NHVR against the measured load. The permit sets travel windows, speed limits, escort requirements and the approved route.
Bridges, overhead clearances, roundabouts, roadworks and site access. We check the real route in its current condition, because permits are issued against maps, not against this month’s works program.
Crew and pilots brief together, communications are confirmed, and the load moves inside its permitted window with everyone on the same channel.
Give us the loaded dimensions, the mass and the destination. We will tell you the permit class, the escort requirement and what it costs.
Detail that matters
Oversize work concentrates risk. These are the controls that keep it manageable.
Every operator on an over dimensional job holds the licences the load requires and has been trained specifically on oversize handling — not just heavy vehicle operation. Our fleet is on a scheduled maintenance program with pre-departure checks logged before each movement.
Where permit conditions call for pilot or escort vehicles, we supply them with compliant equipment: warning signage, height indicators, UHF radios and flashing lights. Route planning is done to avoid known hazards rather than to discover them, and we build in contingency for the ones that appear anyway.
Straight answers
Our fleet handles B-doubles, road trains and other heavy combinations to full NHVR requirements. For an unusually heavy single piece we assess it and match the trailer and prime mover to the load rather than the other way around.
Dispatch runs 24 hours a day across Brisbane and regional Queensland. For an oversize breakdown we prioritise the callout because of the traffic impact, and we will give you a real ETA from the closest depot on the phone.
Yes. We run local and interstate oversize transport, and one-way prime mover hire is available where that suits the job better than a return trip.
We do. You supply accurate load information and we lodge the application, track it and operate to the conditions it comes back with. That said, Chain of Responsibility obligations sit with everyone in the chain, so the accuracy of what you give us genuinely matters.
We secure the site first, notify the relevant authorities, and arrange recovery inside or outside the permit window depending on what the conditions allow. Having the original permit and route on file makes that conversation considerably faster.
