There was a gap, and operators kept falling into it

Delta Heavy Towing was established to fill a gap in Brisbane’s towing market. Most operators here focus on cars. When a truck operator, bus company or construction firm needed a genuine heavy tow, the options were thin — and the ones that existed often turned up with equipment that was not rated for the job.

So we built the business around heavy vehicles from the start: heavy trucks, purpose-built equipment, and operators holding the licences and experience to handle large loads safely. Not a car towing company that also owns a big truck.

Today we run six depots across South East Queensland — Heathwood, Burpengary, Virginia, Ipswich, the Gold Coast and Toowoomba. The fleet covers heavy duty tow trucks, tilt trays, low loaders and a rotator recovery unit, handling loads from 4.5 tonnes right through to road train configurations.

Our fleet

Each truck configured for a specific type of work

One truck asked to do everything does most of it badly. We would rather run four types and send the right one.

Heavy boom trucks

The majority of on-road truck towing runs on these. Underlift attachments rated for the vehicles they tow, plus recovery gear on board — winches, chains and airbags.

Heavy tilt trays

Rated to 25 tonnes, not the 4.5 tonnes most people picture. They carry machinery, smaller trucks, buses and anything that should travel flat rather than on its own wheels.

Low loaders

For tracked machinery — excavators, dozers and rollers. The low deck makes loading safer and keeps overall transport height inside legal limits.

The rotator

The most capable unit we own. It uprights rolled vehicles, extracts trucks from embankments and performs recoveries that would otherwise mean ordering a mobile crane and losing half a day.

Every vehicle is maintained on a documented schedule, carries GPS tracking for real-time location, and is fully insured for public liability and goods in transit.
