Safety & Accreditations

Heavy towing is high-risk work. The vehicles are large, the loads are heavy, the work often happens on live roads with traffic passing at 100 km/h, and the conditions can change in minutes. A crew that cuts corners eventually has an incident. We have built our operation around the principle that doing the job safely is not slower or more expensive. It is actually faster and cheaper because you do not have to deal with the consequences of getting it wrong.

This page sets out our accreditations, compliance framework, and the standards we hold ourselves to.

TruckSafe Accreditation

TruckSafe is the Australian trucking industry’s voluntary accreditation programme, administered by the Australian Trucking Association. It covers vehicle maintenance, driver health and training, speed management, fatigue management, and safe loading practices.

Our TruckSafe accreditation means our fleet maintenance, driver management, and operational procedures are audited against national industry standards. The accreditation is not awarded permanently. We undergo regular audits to maintain it, and any non-conformance must be corrected within a set timeframe.

For our clients, TruckSafe accreditation provides independent assurance that the tow truck arriving on their site meets audited standards for vehicle condition and operator competency.

NHVR Compliance

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) sets the rules for heavy vehicle operations across Australia. Our compliance with NHVR standards covers vehicle registration, mass and dimension limits, load restraint, fatigue management, maintenance schedules, and Chain of Responsibility obligations.

Chain of Responsibility (CoR) is particularly relevant to our work. Under CoR laws, every party in the transport chain shares responsibility for safety breaches, including the towing company. We take CoR seriously because our clients depend on us to manage our part of the chain without creating liability for them.

Our operators carry current NHVR accreditation documentation, and our vehicles display current registration and compliance plates.

Insurance

Every vehicle in our fleet carries full public liability insurance and goods-in-transit insurance. Our coverage is maintained with a major Australian insurer and is reviewed annually.

For our clients, this means that if something goes wrong during a tow or recovery, the financial exposure is covered. We can provide certificates of currency on request for clients who need to verify our insurance status before we work on their sites.

Operator Licensing and Training

Our tow truck operators hold the heavy vehicle licence classes required for the vehicles they drive. Depending on the truck, that means Heavy Rigid (HR), Heavy Combination (HC), or Multi-Combination (MC) licences.

Beyond the licence, our operators hold current traffic control tickets for managing traffic around incident scenes on Queensland roads. They undergo annual competency assessments covering recovery techniques, load restraint, and emergency procedures.

New operators complete a supervised induction period before operating independently. During induction, they work alongside experienced crew members on actual jobs to build practical skills.

Safety Management

We run a documented safety management system that covers job planning, risk assessment, equipment inspection, incident reporting, and corrective action. The system is not just a folder on a shelf. It is how we run the business day to day.

Before every shift, operators inspect their vehicles using a pre-start checklist. Before every recovery job, the crew leader conducts a site-specific risk assessment. If conditions on site are different from what was expected, the crew stops and reassesses.

We track near-miss reports as well as incidents. Near-miss reporting helps us identify risks before they result in actual incidents. Our safety record is something we measure and discuss regularly.

Industry Standards We Follow

Our operations align with the National Transport Commission Load Restraint Guide, Queensland workplace health and safety legislation, TMR incident response procedures for state-controlled roads, and Australian Standards for lifting and rigging equipment.
